Recommended Excursions while on a Dead Sea Vacation

Many things make a dead sea vacation unforgettable. Staying at a Dead Sea resort in Israel provides an opportunity to experience the wonders, health related and others, of the lowest place on earth, the salt lake, the miracle working mud and much more. Excursions to extraordinary sites around the Dead Sea will enhance your holiday even further. We've gathered for you examples of such excursions.

Ein Bokek (Bokek Spring)

Most excursions begin with a short drive from the hotel, but many Dead Sea holidays are spent at a resort within walking distance from Ein Bokek. The path is clearly marked and will take you along a desert canyon through which a magical river flows. The water brings the desert to life, at the end of the short 2 km' path is an oasis, complete with a waterfall and a pond to dip in.

Prazim River and the Flour Cave

An excursion fit for all ages, a short drive along the bank of the Dead Sea will take you to the Arava road Junction situated about 1 km' north of the Dead Sea Works Plant (where many minerals are produced and supplied worldwide). Well marked and easily navigable dirt roads will take you the rest of the way to a river which flows through the desert, the Prazim River. Just one kilometer from the river lays the entrance to the "flour cave", named so because entering it means leaving with desert sand as fine as flour on your clothes.

The Lower Og River

kibbutz Almog in not far from most dead sea resorts Israel. From the Kibbutz begins a clearly marked path leading to the Og River. A short 200 meter walk will take you to the first waterfall, you can then return the same way you came, but, if you want to go on to the next waterfall you will need to climb a 6 meter high wall using the pegs wedged in it. The second waterfall can also be climbed, and then a third from which a narrow canyon will lead you back to Kibbutz Almog.
